Oscar’s Family Experience Sense of Relief After Bail is Granted : 23 – 02 – 2013

Oscar’s Family Experience Sense of Relief After Bail is Granted : 23 – 02 – 2013

Oscar Pistorius’ family and friends experienced a sense of immense relief at hearing that Oscar had been granted bail in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court late on Friday afternoon.

“This constitutes a moment of relief under these otherwise very grave circumstances” said Arnold Pistorius, the athlete’s uncle and spokesperson for the Pistorius family.

“We are extremely thankful that Oscar is now home,” Arnold Pistorius said.

The Pistorius family never imagined they would ever have to deal with such tragic events in their lives he said.

“What happened has changed our lives irrevocably.”

From the moment the family were first informed about the accident in the early hours of 14 February 2013, the Pistorius family had to come to terms with the sad reality of Reeva Steenkamp’s death and Oscar’s part in it.

“As a family it drew us closer together, supporting and encouraging each other, praying for Oscar – whom we love and who remains our son, brother and nephew.  We have all been deeply affected by what transpired” said Arnold Pistorius.

“We are acutely aware of the fact that this is only the beginning of a long road to prove that, as we know, Oscar never intended to harm Reeva, let alone cause her death.”

Arnold Pistorius says Oscar will never be the same, having lost his love, and at the same time having to live with the knowledge that he caused the death of the woman he loved, and that he can never undo the immense pain and loss this has caused Reeva’s family and friends, nothing can ever bring her back.

“We realise that the law must run its course, and we would not have it any other way,” Arnold Pistorius said.

The pain is so raw at present. But Oscar, with your loving family and friends around you, you will begin to accept yourself again. Then you will be able to move slowly forward.
Your uncle is correct when he says what is done cannot be undone. But it doesn’t end there. You have to work on yourself, with help and guidance, and as you come to terms with what happened you will move along the path. It wont be easy but you are strong. You will come through this.

Oscar, I have a son who is a few months younger than and is also a athlete. He played D1 hockey in college and now he is in law school. I can not imagine how hard this must be on your family. I just want to say that I believe you and that my prayers are with you, your family and also Reeva’s family. Please use your strength to get through this.

Oscar, I fully understand the need for silent solitary contemplation at this time. Family and friends are crucial to your recovery but the work on yourself is yours and yours alone. It is not unusual that the hardest person on oneself is indeed one’s ownself. You have shown great strength in the past and I have no doubt that you will work your way through this.

What ever happens to you in this Case. Take Responsilbility and BE the OSCAR you are. I wish that the Court BELIEVS you, that you never want to do any harm to Reeva. You lost your Soulmate and a least a part of yourself. Don´t lose yourself. You are YOUNG- go over it what ever happens and than LIVE a new Life- Sometimes Judgement comes from Experience- but sometimes Experience comes from bad Judgement.
You are Human- we all have the right to make mistakes, sometimes the Human Nature lead us to make mistakes like yours. I hope Reevas Family FORGIVE you some day. To Destroy you will never bring Reeva back. Dear Steenkamp Familiy- my deepest Sorry for you, but if Oscar tell the Truth- try to Forgive him to get your own Peace back. I imagine the pain of your families and especially Oscar and I would tell him not to give up, he was and still is an example for many people and for me, it gave me the strength not to give up and fight to keep doing what I love.
I would tell him that for me is a hero, not by the number of medals and trophies won and that I am sure will continue to win, but because its sweetness, with her smile, with the simplicity and above all his humility, was able to break down a wall to this day impassable.
I believe in his innocence, I believe with all my strength.
I would tell him to learn from this painful experience, many women and children in the world die every day because of guns and violence free, so if you could one day make this immense pain a force, if he can convince a one person a weapon or beat a woman or even worse a child is wrong and ruins your life forever as unfortunately happened to him unwittingly, then Reeva will not die in vain.
If I may say this is because I myself am alive today because of a miracle, a man who did not even know four years ago he tried to kill me ramming my car in an attempt to make me fall off a bridge on the highway and in that case it is not certainly was a mistake.
And my life has changed forever because wherever I am I’m always afraid that there is someone ready to do it again.
I wish someone could give Oscar to this message:

“Oscar, you have shown the world that you are not different from others just because you do not have legs, then courage, it shows today that you’ve lived on your skin, how stupid a weapon against another human being under any circumstances.
Make this pain a new battle, I’m sure your mother and Reeva from there it will be fair and you can find some peace and serenity that you need so much now and I hope with all my heart that you can find soon. I’ll be on your side, ready to defend you and support you.
    You hug,
    Mely G. “

Oscar – I believe you, because I find it impossible not to. Beloved Reeva who lectured on abused women would never have remained with you if she thought for one moment you were just another abuser. She was too intelligent for that. The pain you are feeling having lost your loved one is something we cannot feel, but I see it written on your face and I sympathise with you from my innermost being.
God knows your heart Oscar and we keep praying for you.

As soon as I learned that You were accused of murder, Oscar, I dropped everything to follow up on any coverage I came across.

One thing I learned from experience is, that the same news-networks who raise somebody up, are fast to drop them and twist many of their details, to demonize the victim in the public-eye.

When you are proven innocent, the same news-anchors will again want your interviews.–But I would ignore them. I would have a list of names of television, radio and newspaper reporters who published wrong information.–And who withheld details which would have helped their viewers, readers and listeners understand the situation.

I’m a Disability-Rights independent activist, and blogger, in Canada.

I wish you the best, and will pray for a victory in the trial.

Our condolences to Reeva’s family and condolences to you and your family. Your honesty and integrity – and your love – and your strength to protect the one you love, must be heard. Pls convey to Oscar, Since this tradegy last week, the Lord has put it on my heart to keep praying for you. I did not know what to pray, so I prayed in the spirit. Thank God for your release today. I inquired further of the Lord and he has directed me to continue my prayer assignment for you. I feel led to get you a CD “The Peace of God” by Br. Keith Moore in Branson. It will minister to you and I believe will restore you from this broken place. What the enemy meant for bad on that tragic night, God can turn it around for good. One would say, how can that be! I dont know, but just lay your every step before him and he will direct your path. The book of Psalms is a great chapter to bring you through this valley. Iwill get CD in the mail to you, but just in case it does not get into your hands, I mentioned the name above. The battlefield is in the mind, but God’s word out of the bible can quench every firy dart the enemy tries to bring to your thinking-such as, How you could have done things differently that night- It was a setup, an ambush by the devil, in an attempt to destroy you and the way you have encouraged the world. We have an adversary you know Oscar. This is why I believe, God has people all over the world undergirthing you with prayer. Remember Oscar, your love for Reeva never dies, God Loves you and Reeva’s family, may she rest in peace. We will continue to earnestly pray for you in Jesus name. Amen with all our love Florida USA

I so agree with this post- Jesus put it on my heart to pray for you Oscar and brought you to my mind constantly to lift before him. He chose you before the foundation of the world and has always had a special plan for your life. I truly believe in God’s power to bring good out of what the enemy meant for harm. His special plan for your life continues and nothing can change that. Believe it. Centre your life and heart on Jesus, trust in Him, acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Sending you love, prayers and deepest sympathy at this time.

Dear Oscar, Sometimes life does not make sense, and we are sent challanges we do not understand. Do not question why, but instead look within yourself and find the man that you are, the man many know you to be. The road ahead will be a difficult one, but not one you must walk alone. You have shown the world a strength of character that rarely exists. Your family have shown the world where this strength comes from. Take comfort in this, together you will make the journey, and along the way you will find the support there is in the world for you. I wish you and your family all the best on this most difficult journey, and my thoughts and prayers are with you all, and of course with Reeva’s family and friends as they face the challanges ahead too.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Oscar, I believe you. From the minute news of this tragedy broke I have not doubted your word. Reeva must ALWAYS be remembered. It is an unspeakable loss to her family, to you, to her friends. She was a beautiful woman, a beautiful soul and anyone could see that you were both in love.

Many doubt your version of the events, but as a South African living abroad, I understand and have explained that no one can appreciate the level of violence and crime in South Africa. I was directly affected by violence and I remember reacting in panic. This is why I believe your story because it is possible to make a terrible mistake during these circumstances. I know that you did not intend to harm Reeva. That you wish you could turn back time on that fateful night. I can see that you love her deeply and it hurts me to watch your sorrow. I hope that you will be able to forgive yourself one day and have a hand in keeping her memory alive.

I read today that you wanted to reach out to her family. This of course is absolutely the right thing to do. I did not expect anything less from you Oscar. Please forgive them and be patient if they are not ready to receive you. Their sorrow must be so great. But in time they will see that yours is too.

Please stay strong. Be brave and be good to yourself. I, among many, many others in this world are going through this with you and I hope you gain strength in that during your mourning and your trial. I will continue to look out for news of you everyday and keep informed of your well-being.

May Reeva rest in peace and watch over you during these difficult times. I pray for Reeva’s family and for you my friend.

    Hi Oscar,
I was so relieved and happy to hear that you were granted bail. I believe you 100% and support you 1000%. I agree with your coach, you should get out to the track as soon as possible. Running will help you clear your mind of the voices from your own head and heart. From the photos of you in court, I can see the devastation and pain you are suffering. A man who is guilty of premeditated murder would exhibit very different body language than what you are exhibiting. Please don’t lose yourself to the negative voices in your head and in your heart. You are an inspiration to the world, and we all must recognize that you are still a man, a human being who makes mistakes. I offer you my sincerest condolences for the loss of your love. I can’t imagine the extreme emotions you must be feeling.

    Dear Oscar
I am totally heartbroken that this had to happen to you. You have brought such joy to the world and have now suffered some of the worst kind of pain. It is all just so wrong. I cannot stop thinking about you and what you must be going through, and for Reeva and for her family and for yours. Looking at you in court physically hurt me. I do not know you, but it is obvious from your words and deeds that you are a good and just man. It is obvious from those who love you, from your friends, from the way you are with children and with animals. I see it clearly, you are not capable of the act you are accused.
I am a scientist and operate according to objective facts, evidence gathering and the search for truth. The media disgust me, people who cannot hold to the presumption of innocence disgust me. They should surely hope they are never accused of a crime. You do not have to prove your innocence to anyone, it is for the prosecution to prove guilt and SHAME on anyone who cannot maintain that concept.
Never have I had such a gut reaction to anything as I have had to this. I feel it so strongly in my gut, in the very fibres of my being that you did not kill her on purpose. It is plain to see on all the VERY ROBUST evidence so far and I have no doubt, the remaining forensic information will not disprove you.
I am not religious, so all I can offer is my support here, and the knowledge to you that there are people, many many people out in the world that are with you in this time of trial. I wish for you strength of body and mind and for energy and clarity of mind for your legal counsel.
Remember, ‘the only disability in life is a bad attitude’. You will get through this and we will be with you all the way.

Winning is giving your best self away
Winning is serving with grace every day
You’ll know that you’ve won when your friends say it’s true
I like who I am when I’m around you.
You look for the best in others you see
And you help us become who we are trying to be.

Winning is helping some one who is down
It’s sharing a smile instead of a frown

Its giving your children a hug by the fire
And sharing the values & dreams that inspire

It’s giving your parent’s the message “I care
Thanks mum & dad for being so fair”

Winners are willing to give more than get
Their favours are free your never in debt

Winning is giving one hundred percent
Its paying your dues your taxes your rent
Its trying & doing not crying & stewing

Winners respect every colour & creed
They care & they share for everyone’s need

The losers keep betting that winning is getting
But there’s one of God’s law’s that they keep forgetting
This is the law you can live & believe
The more that you give the more you’ll receive

Hope this beautiful poem which has been inspiring me since I came across it whilst working at a summer camp in the late 80’s gives you all some comfort in the days & months ahead.
My heart is full of love for the Pistorius family.
Keep Strong for each other x

Do not stop praying to the Almighty. He is with your family in this difficult time. May Bless the Pistorius and the Steenkamp families, and releave them from this pain. Let God be with the legal team that will prove Oscar’s innocence in this whole unfortunate tragedy. We love still, and you will remain our hero…..

    Dear Oscar and family!

We as a family, our neighbours and everyone that we know are praying for you! Keep strong and we will never let you down. This was a terrible accident and the court will see that. At this stage you might feel extremely alone but YOU will make it through everything, we are all beside you. Never forget that. You can still look people in the eye. One of these days you WILL be back on the field. Just BELIEVE. We DO!!

      DearOscar and family
In the last week i have seen the best and the worst of people that call themself South Africans, the worst things whas that Christians where first to damm you to hell, but please remeber that God is the judge of all. If you made a mistake, and i believe you did, them God knows that, and He will be at your side every step of the way. You are a good person and with the help of your true friends supporters and family you will get to the other side. You life have changed, but do not let people keep you in hiding, lift up your head and face what is coming in the next few months, but remember, yu are not alone. There is a song I surrender, dont know if you know it, but go read the words, surrender yourself to God and God alone. We love and pray for your every day. Hope yu get a chance to read this. To the love of your life Reeva she is with God now and she is happy she is dancing and worshipping Christ, and there will come a time that her family will also get to know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. We love you

    Dear Oscar,

My heart breaks daily for you & the Steenkamp family. I also have not stopped thinking and praying for you since the news broke. My 3 little kids are huge fans of yours and we followed your every move during the Olympics. Have watched you and Reeva on Top Billing and seen the love in you both. Have watched an interview and marveled at how you described the love for your mother!

You are never alone, The Lord is your shepherd, He will make you lie down in green pastures ones again – Psalm written by King David who was a murderer but in God we are made new!

I believe your testimony and will continue praying that the truth be told! The truth shall set you free. Please know that you are still an inspiration to us!

Our prayers go out to the Steenkamp family.

    Oscar and Family,
I cannot bear to think what you are going through each and everyday with the media stalking you and watching your every move. I myself just want Oscar and Family to know that I am never giving up and turning my back as I firmly believe you are telling the honest truth. It was a terrible accident yes but please Oscar for all your fans and supporters out there stay strong and believe. Everytime I saw you standing in court my heart bled for you I just cried. You are my hero and nothing is going to change that. Only GOD can judge and I leave it to him to decide, but from me my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family each and every day. Take care Oscar we cannot wait to see you back in action. We believe in YOU.
